Art has always been an integral part of the human spirit, and drawing and painting have been a means to express complex thoughts and emotions. It is a way for people to process their experiences and for others to briefly see the world through the eyes of the artist.

I have always admired art that harmoniously incorporates technical skills to express creative ideas. Fundamentals and techniques are like tools that can be used to solve creative problems and can open doors to potentially infinite ways of expressing a single thought or story. I originally began teaching as a way to support myself through my own education, but having found the experience to be extremely rewarding in and of itself, I have decided to continue to work with others to help them through their own artistic journey.

For those interested, portfolio preparation is a focus, helping students to build a cohesive and professionally packaged body of work to submit to higher education arts schools. However, these same skills apply to artists seeking to simply advance their skills for any reason.

Welcome!
My name is Constant Qin Pearson. I am a multidisciplinary studio artist and an SGV native.

Studio Policy

  • I will help students looking to enter art school prepare both skills and eventually a portfolio by developing technical and compositional abilities, as well as their own artistic voice. If your art goals are personal or unrelated to school, we can apply the same concepts to build your fundamentals and techniques.

  • Students agree to be prepared for each lesson on time with materials and works in progress prepared. Some materials may be provided by me, but for the most part students will need access to their own supplies to complete projects outside of lesson times.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that is affecting your child please let me know. The more information I have, the more I can be sensitive to the needs of your child.

All students are encouraged to apply to any and all schools that interest them. Please let me know as soon as possible so that we can best plan and prepare an effective portfolio.

  • *Please note that tuition reserves the weekly time slot, but may not directly correlate with lessons received if the student does not attend the scheduled lesson times.

Tuition is calculated per half hour lesson and the total for the allotted lessons per month may vary based on the lessons in the month. Tuition may vary by month in the case that there is an additional week of lessons or in the case of my own pre-planned absence.

Tuition invoices will be sent roughly 10 days before the due date for all enrolled students. Invoices will reflect the number of lessons in that month based on the calendar and the studio schedule.

Payment received after the fifth of each month is subject to a $10 late fee. Payment received after the 10th of the month is subject to an additional $10 late fee and the lesson time for that student may not be reserved for the next month.

Recurring late payments may result in termination of the student’s enrollment.

Preferred methods of payment are cash or check; Stripe is now available for your convenience.

  • Lessons canceled with under 24 hours notice will not be provided a make up lesson. Lessons canceled with 24 hours notice will be credited a make up lesson for that month.

Each month one day will be offered for make up lessons. This date will be announced at the start of each month via email. If the student is unable to attend a lesson on this designated day the credit may be forfeited.

Make up lessons do not count as credit for the next month’s tuition.

Lessons canceled by me will be given as much notice as possible and will be rescheduled within 30 days.

Monthly invoices are based on the number of lessons the studio schedules that month and will not be altered. Planned vacations or other conflicts communicated in advance receive a make-up lesson credit for that month.

  • Each student is responsible for purchasing the required materials for lessons. When producing personal work, materials will largely depend on the mediums the student chooses to work with, however certain lessons may require specific materials and tools. I will make these requirements clear and students will have up to two weeks to procure any required materials.

  • When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire term. Changes to weekly schedules may be made on a case-by-base basis each month before tuition is due.

If the student decides to pause lessons during the course of a semester, tuition for the remainder of the semester still applies. Alterations to this policy are on a case-by-case basis.

Fall Term - September through December

Spring Term - January through May

Summer Term - June through August

Please note that a student's spot will not be guaranteed for the fall term if they were not enrolled in lessons during the summer term.

  • From time to time I use photos and short videos of my students around the studio, on the studio website, or in social media posts. These videos and posts are encouraging to other students and helpful to other teachers. If you do not want your child's image(s) to be used, please let me know. In general, the students love to see their pictures and videos on my website or around the studio. They find it motivating and exciting to think that others want to know what they are learning. The students are identified only by first name.
